About: Curiosity With an Evidence Check

A picnic for ideas, not a boot camp for a supposedly broken brain.

Start where thinking gets interesting

Puff Brain Picnic is an independent educational website about everyday psychology. We begin with familiar moments: a misplaced object, a persuasive first impression, a memory that does not match someone else’s. Then we look for the mechanism, the evidence and the point where a neat explanation becomes too neat.

Our name is playful. Our standard for a factual claim should not be. We do not promise to rewire your brain, diagnose your personality or remove uncertainty from your choices.

How to read these pages

Observation panels introduce a question. Claim-versus-evidence summaries separate a tempting headline from a more defensible conclusion. Expandable research notes point out measurement choices and limits. References link to original research or established explanatory resources where possible.

Classic studies are included for context, not treated as the last word. Some findings have stronger support than others, and laboratory tasks may differ substantially from everyday life. A citation makes a claim traceable; it does not make the claim immune to criticism.

Illustration is not assessment

Photographs are labeled as illustrative. Our schematic illusion is identified separately and connected to background reading. Neither a photograph nor a demonstration tells us your attention span, intelligence, mental health or suitability for a job.

Practical suggestions are modest supports: better cues, independent comparisons, written criteria and feedback. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, a checklist on this site is not a validated measurement instrument.

Independence and affiliation

Puff Brain Picnic is not affiliated with the researchers, universities, publishers or organizations mentioned in its articles. Mentioning a book, paper or resource does not imply endorsement in either direction. The site is not a healthcare service and does not establish a clinician–patient relationship.

Corrections are part of the work

If a citation is wrong, a link fails or an explanation overreaches, please send the page address and the specific passage. A useful correction includes the better source and explains what changes. We cannot promise a reply to every message or a fixed response time.
